Welcome to Chase Shadows is a coming of age book that gives the reader an opportunity to join firsthand in the lives of three siblings as they try to navigate the difficult process of growing up. Being thrust into a new social and school environment as a result of relocating can be hard enough; but add to that a volatile mix of bullying, childhood obesity and other issues that tweens face, and it can be a difficult road to navigate. This realistic and honest portrayal highlights the issues kids are facing today, but also provides the youth with thoughtful and workable solutions that will encourage the young reader to think through the issues and find positive solutions. Join Jason and the other kids of Chase Shadows as they learn, grow and have fun together. Note to parents and teachers: Critical thinking and conflict resolution are absent from many book series today. Chase Shadows fills in the gaps and is a great companion piece for any reading program or curriculum.

In The Antiracist Roadmap to Educational Equity, award-winning school leaders Avis Williams and Brenda Elliott shine the spotlight on the education system’s various stakeholders—teachers, school and district leaders, the central office team, and the wider community—and identify what the members of each group can do to replace the structures that hold back so many BIPOC students from academic success and overall well-being.

This is an essential book for anyone interested in, curious about, or committed to creating antiracist schools and school districts—ones where academic outcomes can’t be predicted by race and students of color are seen, heard, and empowered to bring their whole selves into the classroom
